Habib Public School
Ever since it was founded in 1959 Habib Public School has been striving to provide the best to students in all dimensions of their personality growth. In the formative years the school established credentials in academics and sports; in fact the pioneers always believed that the two facet of learning are closely interwoven, what is taught as values in classrooms is demonstrated aptly in the play fields. Together the experience leaves indelible imprints on the minds and behaviour of students who carry the learning into their practical life and benefit the society. Periodically the whole concepts involved in fostering and nurturing students was reviewed to adapt to changing trends and time.
A major review was done in 2002 and goals were set for the future. The vision statement was updated and elements were defined by soliciting inputs from trustees, faculty, parents, ex-students, educationists and visionaries.
This was duly documented for the period 2003-2008 and widely circulated among stake holders. To implement the vision a Master Plan for infrastructure development and renovation was approved with liberal funds from the trustees. Top experts were deployed to draw and execute the plan which plan was aimed at improving the existing infrastructure and developing new facilities for the students with futuristic needs given due considerations. Under the scheme in the Junior Section, a new block comprising 16 spacious classrooms has been commissioned in November, 2005.
The canteen area was renovated to provide the right ambiance for a "Day School". An ultra modern air-conditioned gymnasium cum auditorium, with all facilities was inaugurated in November, 2006.
Construction of another academic block in the Senior Section, comprising 18 classrooms and offices is in progress after which the renovation work of the existing blocks in the Senior Section will begin in the last phase of the Master Plan. Refurbishing the classroom and office furniture, provisioning spacious staffrooms and offices, internet connectivity to all labs and eventually to all classrooms and offices, developing the libraries, science laboratories, hobby clubs and procuring top of the line training aids constitute the major focus of the Master Plan.
In house teachers training setup, nominating teachers for training courses out side the school are some on going steps for the development of teachers professional forte.
After careful deliberations and negotiations with parents and educationists, the school got affiliated with the Agha Khan University Education Board (AKU-EB) in order to develop in students ability of comprehension and application of knowledge rather than mere gathering and retention of facts and figures. This decision has revolutionized teaching methods in the school so that the attributes of comprehension and application of knowledge are entrenched and nurtured in side the classrooms.
The curriculum
Contents are continuously being enriched by the use of Summer Break Assignment Booklet, Portfolio Booklet, Worksheets, Handouts, Educational Visits and in-house and outsourced activities. These on-going endeavors are grooming the students for future challenges in life.
